How Long Will My Roof Replacement Take?

Time to replace the roof of your home? Aside from deciding to make this major investment there is no doubt you are wondering just what the timeline looks like from start to finish. Here’s a quick breakdown of what the process entails along with time estimates so you know what to expect:

Inspection (1 hour)

Choose and order shingles

Schedule the installation

Installation (1-3 days)

  • Yard and roof preparation

  • Tear-off begins

  • Repairs and preparation of existing decking

  • Shingle application

  • Ventilation and finishing touches

  • Cleanup

Rest secure and enjoy your new roof!

An initial roof inspection will take about an hour. We offer inspections for free and you can schedule on our website here. During this hour inspection we will look at the overall structure, materials, and interior to get a complete view of how much repair needs to be done before the new roof can be installed.

The timeframe for ordering in shingles is first based primarily on whether your shingles of choice are in stock or need to be shipped. If you order through the roofing company you might have fewer choices but a quicker turnaround on the order since they buy often and in bulk.

After inspection we will discuss how to best protect your lawn and property during the tear off and replacement process then prepare the lawn accordingly. This will include making a plan for where our team will access the roof, where we will dump materials, and what needs to be covered/protected throughout the process. Your safety and our efficiency are top priorities in this process.

When we tear off the existing roof we will have a clear view of what repairs need to be done to the decking. Repairs can be the lengthiest part of the proces. If there is extensive damage to the decking this part of the process can be extended, but since it is the literal base for everything else we consider the extra time spent well worth it.

Next come the felt, drip edge, and shingles. With our team’s expertise the length of application is determined by the size and pitch of your roof.

To finish up we check to make sure the roof has been ventilated properly and begin cleanup of your yard.

Most roofs take 1-3 days to do a full replacement. Extensions to this timeline can occur due to inclimate weather and will differ from season to season due to the hours of daylight available. When we inspect your roof we will be able to give more accurate estimates on the projected time frame.

Your roof protects your home and your family. We know it's a big investment and we will be in communication throughout the entire process toare here to make sure you are informed every step of the way.
